Notary Public

Gilmour Pike Chapman are Notaries Public which means we can notarise documents for you – these include Powers of Attorney, statutory declarations, affidavits, oaths and property documents.

If a document simply needs to be certified, a wide range of people can certify the document. However, if a document needs to be notarised, this must be done by a Notary Public, this is a much more formal process than simple certification.

When a document needs to be notarised, we will take the original document from you, or create it if you don’t already have it, and then administer an oath or affirmation. When we have administered the oath, we will then ask you to sign the document and we will then countersign it and apply a notarial seal and add the details of the notary and the firm to the document.

This then means the document has a foundation which can be relied on legally, for instance, in court proceedings.
