Formed from two firms who have been serving their local communities for generations, Gilmour Pike Chapman enjoy a history which spans more than 150 years.

For many years, we have been one legal practice trading as Douglas Gilmour & Son in Selkirk and Pike & Chapman in Galashiels.

Douglas Gilmour & Son has a long history in Selkirk having been founded by the late Douglas Gilmour who arrived in Selkirk to take on the role of Burgh Prosecutor. He was subsequently joined in practice by his son Brian who is well remembered in Selkirk for his contribution to town life. The firm has been owned and run by Partner, Stephanie Robertson since 2016.

Pike & Chapman has the distinction of being one of the oldest firms in Galashiels. It can trace its origins back to Regency times and has operated out of premises in Bank Street during the entirety of its existence. More recently, the firm was headed up by Partner, William Windram until his retirement in 2025.

Under the continued leadership of Stephanie Robertson, the legal partnership formally combined the practices as limited company Gilmour Pike Chapman in April 2026.
